Continuing Medical Education (CME) Committee
To ensure that AzAAP’s education programs remain evidence-based and include current recommended guidelines, the Continuing Medical Education (CME) Committee focuses its efforts in the following key areas:
- Coordinating, monitoring and evaluating the CME program and its individual activities to establish quality and consistency in content development and design process of each program,
- Providing oversight for the accreditation of the CME program,
- Recommending new directions and/or initiatives for AzAAP continuous learning opportunities
- Working with volunteer groups of AzAAP members willing to plan a CME activity on an area in which a knowledge gap has been identified.
Committee Achievements
The many recent activities and achievements of the AzAAP CME Committee include:
- Expanded membership of the committee to include Pediatric Hospitalists
- Collaborated with various AzAAP committees to utilize their expertise in planning educational activities including the Young Physicians Committee, Pediatric Council and Hospitalist Committee
- Incorporated a Hospitalist Track into the 2012 Pediatrics in the Red Rocks Conference
- Provided seven opportunities for continuing medical education in 2011, including:
- 34th Annual Pediatrics in the Red Rocks Conference
- 3rd Annual Practice Efficiency & Business of Vaccines
- Young Physicians CME Dinner- Billing and Coding: What You Didn’t Learn in Residency
- Partnering with Pediatricians for Healthy Living and Drug Free Kids web-based CME activity
- The Challenge of Adolescent Immunizations and Preventative Care web-based CME activity
- Consent and Confidentiality in Adolescent Health web-based CME activity
