Legislative Agenda


2013 Arizona Legislature is in Session-

This means AzAAP leadership and staff are working with and educating state legislators, including more than 25 new lawmakers, on multiple issues:

•    Medicaid expansion

•    Increased payment for acquisition and administration of vaccines from private insurance payors

•    CPS/Foster Care

•    Children's behavioral mental health services

•    Tanning bed restrictions

•    State budget

The Chapter is also monitoring many other bills that could have unintended consequences.

Medicaid Expansion:

The Medicaid program provides health insurance for 543,000 low-income children in Arizona. Medicaid is an indispensable health program providing health insurance coverage for part or all of the year to 4 in 9 children. On January 14, 2013, Governor Brewer announced her proposal regarding Medicaid expanded coverage. Her recommendation will now be considered by the Legislature in the 2013 legislative session. AzAAP wholeheartedly supports the Governor’s proposal. Below are some additional resources/information:
