The Arizona Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics is the Reach Out and Read Arizona Affiliate.
Reach Out and Read Arizona operates throughout the state in pediatric healthcare settings to provide critical information to families on the importance of familial bonding. Every child receives a new linguistically, culturally, and developmentally appropriate book at each well child visit through age 5 to add to their home library.

ROR is an evidence-based program with more than 20 studies showing that the program improves the language development in children, clinic culture and clinician morale is positively impacted, maternal depression decreases, well child visit attendance improves and more.
Recent Research found that the ROR intervention:
Literacy Connects is subcontracted to operate the program in Southern Arizona, including Pima, Santa Cruz, and Cochise Counties.
First Things First financially supports the Reach Out and Read Arizona program in several regions throughout the state.

Vision Screening Training:
Vision Screening Training is not currently available. There is no requirement for an ADHS vision screening certification until the vision screening rules are in place, and screening should continue as usual until further notice.
